Carol Baxter

Carol Baxter has been interested in genealogy and names since she went to school. At the conference she will be presenting a light-hearted look at Tracing Your Family History – what to do (and what NOT to do). For those that have not had the good fortune of hearing Carol talk before you will be in for a treat! An enthusiastic presenter, she is also an adjunct lecturer at the University of New England and teaches researching and writing skills to genealogists and writers as well as being a fellow of the Society of Australian Genealogists!

Carol worked for years for the Biographical Database of Australia as a transcriber. It was this work which helped her understand the letters of surnames. Combined with her previous university major in linguistics this helped her understand the sounds of surnames, which led to research that Carol now shares in talks and books including “Help! Why can’t I find my ancestor’s surname?”

Carol is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning author of six historical true crime thrillers! One of these is being turned into a big budget TV series, one into a feature film and one into a computer game!

Have you registered to attend conference yet? What are you waiting for??

Also do not forget there are great prizes in the raffle. Tickets for that are on sale now too!!
